Early on Sunday morning, a man damaged dozens of vehicles in a blind frenzy of destruction in the multi-storey car park in Täsch. It is unclear why the German went berserk.

German (37) demolishes 74 cars with defibrillator

Car pranks in Täsch VS! On Sunday morning, a German (37) went crazy in the ground floor of the parking facility and damaged practically every vehicle. A reader reporter had also parked her car there. "A few cars had their windows knocked out, rear view mirrors were knocked off, almost all the cars had their windscreen wipers ripped off." She had never seen anything like it, says the Swiss woman who was on holiday in Zermatt VS. "It's unimaginable that someone could go crazy like that!"

As photos from the car park show, the damaged vehicles include a Tesla whose rear window was smashed. Another picture shows a smashed-off rear-view mirror of a Jeep Renegade.

The Valais cantonal police confirmed to BLICK that 74 cars were damaged in the park. Among them were also vehicles belonging to foreign owners. The German reportedly ripped a defibrillator from the wall and lashed out with it. A charging device for electric vehicles was also damaged.

Taken to hospital

A regional police patrol went to the park. There, according to police spokesman Mathias Volken, an ambulance team was already taking care of the German. Apparently, the vandal was not in the best of health. Volken could not say on Monday morning whether he was drunk or had inflicted injuries on himself. One thing is certain: The German was taken to hospital.

At a later stage, the cantonal police also went to the scene. The amount of property damage is still unclear. According to the spokesperson, the large number of damaged vehicles makes it difficult to calculate the amount of damage. The public prosecutor's office was informed about the incident. The rowdy German was subjected to a blood alcohol test, but Volken does not yet know the result. The investigation is ongoing. Report from Blick.ch
