With over 600 employees, the Basel-Landschaft Police is the largest department of the Security Directorate of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft. The basic mission of the police is to ensure public safety and order. It is part of the self-image of the Basel-Landschaft police to provide services in the area of security as a partner of the population. Because: Only those who feel safe also feel comfortable.

The Foundation First Aiders Northwestern Switzerland was established with the public notarisation on 6 February 2018. The foundation has its registered office at the University Hospital Basel and is subject to the supervision of the Berufsfürsorge und Stiftungsaufsicht beider Basel (BSABB). Long-term financing is to be secured through donations, a patrons' association and consultations - for example on AED (automated external defibrillator) purchases or their public positioning.

The Foundation's goals at a glance

1. Raising public awareness about Basic Life Support (BLS)
2. Coordination and planning of the nationwide training of the population in the technique of resuscitation
3. Integration of BLS into compulsory school lessons
4. Comprehensive training of first responders
5. Smartphone-based alerting of the first responders
6. Central registration, coordination of maintenance and upkeep of automatic external defibrillators (AEDs)
7. Independent advice centre for organisations, institutions, companies, official bodies and private individuals on the sensible acquisition, deployment and training of AEDs.
