The SRC course guidelines were completely revised, while retaining the three course formats BLS-AED-SRC-Compact, BLS-AED-SRC-Complete and BLS-AED-SRC-Instructor. These have proven their worth over the past five years. In addition, a maximally simplified format BLS-AED-Quick has been added. The revision also took into account the results of the course provider survey from spring 2020.

Here are the most important changes:

  • The guidelines have been simplified and terminology standardised.
  • A new feature is the maximally simplified format BLS-AED-Quick, which is aimed at raising awareness and the widest possible dissemination of the emergency number, chest compressions and defibrillation.
  • The compulsory doctrinal statements have been updated.
  • The distinction between the formats has been sharpened.
  • The key data of the new four formats are presented in an overview.
  • The minimum duration of the courses has been reduced.
  • Paediatric resuscitation is trained at BLS-AED-SRC-Complete level.
  • The quality control of the courses and the providers is more differentiated.
  • Competences for the instructor function in instructor courses were defined.
