Standstill

  • ventricular fibrillation
Do you know this, the standstill in everyday life? Not life-threatening, but paralysing, because nothing works any more? It usually announces itself, that which no longer works: the flickering in the head, in the truest sense of the word.

Out of step

The "Please descale" also lights up on the machine for a while, now it's your decaffeinated turn to do what your predecessor coffee drinker, who just managed to let out a cup, was spared.

The remote control of the garage door has also needed a new button battery for a long time, but it has not been changed until your car remains locked behind the lock and gate. Oh yes, there's also a bit of a standstill if you've lost, i.e. forgotten, your letterbox key in some jacket pocket. Digging out the mail with your fingers until your finger bones are scraping open is also something like standstill. Tip: Take barbecue tongs and under no circumstances have the cylinder milled out, the jacket with your "lost" letterbox key will find itself again. Next year at the latest.

And what is the moral of the story? That the everyday standstill is annoying, but usually never threatens your life and limb, and it's usually your own fault. As long as batteries, toggle switches, spare bulbs and experts around you can help, everything is going well. So be all the more grateful when a circulatory arrest is restored with life-saving electricity and human help. And a life and your bulb beat in time again.
