After the dramatic scenes in the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, Sergio Reguilón was awarded the Man-of-the-Match Award together with Eric Dier for his quick intervention. The 23-year-old Spaniard had alerted referee Andre Marriner that a spectator in the stands had collapsed and asked him: "Stop the game!"

In an interview on "Sky Sports" after the match, Reguilón explained: "I saw a man lying down."

Defibrillator moved from the sidelines to the stands at St James' Park

When the Spaniard discovered that another man was performing resuscitation, he went to the referee and said: "We can't continue playing."

Team-mate Dier, who was also named player of the match, had then arranged for a defibrillator to be brought from the touchline into the stands at St James' Park.

Football is not the most important thing

"That's much more important," Reguilón told Sky Sports about the spectator's state of health and made sure: "He's okay now?" According to English media reports, the spectator's condition has been stabilised. According to Newcastle United, he is in hospital.
